Te Reo Rakatahi i Otago (LEOTC Programme)

This service is an LEOTC initiative hosted by Kāti Huirapa ki Puketeraki Rūnaka

Te Reo Rakatahi i Otago has a focus on Kai Tahu reo and tikaka(language and customs). This learning experience gives students an opportunity to increase their knowledge and understanding of Te Ao Māori within the context of a marae.

Te Reo Rakatahi i Otago operates on all of the marae in Otago (Moeraki, Puketeraki, Otakou and Araiteuru).

For schools this is an opportunity to include a distinctively indigenous component into their teaching and learning programme. Activities are tailored to meet learning needs across the curriculum areas. Teachers are able to select from a wide range of activities relevant to their visit which will incorporate traditional as well as contemporary knowledge. This authentic learning experience usually begins with students actively involved in a powhiri or mihiwhakatau.

Costs per student - $5.00 (international students $10.00)
